Glory Haven's Outreach Ministry
written by Nancy Coles Every morning I drive by this insurance company that has a message board in the front. It has become a habit of mine to read whatever they have set up. I have been reading this message board through time and they have had so many different and unique quotes as well as the usual ones going around like, 'Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life', or the common one, 'Have a Nice Day!' But eleven weeks ago, exactly, I noticed that they had a name up and a plea for prayer. As the sign faced me it asked for prayer for a woman and then as I drove past, the back of the sign had the simple words, 'Thy Will Be Done'. This moved me, and immediately I started praying. I didn't know what the situation was, nor who this person was, but I knew it was my responsibilitiy as soon as I read that to comply with a request. Now as weeks have gone by, I have looked every day to that sign and have continued to pray for her, and little by little, I have added prayer for my family, loved ones, and friends. I've started praying for co-workers, and the suffering with the situation in the Middle East, and the war the US has become consumed in against terrorism. The travel time I have going to work has become a silent time for prayer and meditation, and has begun to bless me everyday. A few weeks ago, the sign changed to this person going into Rehab, and I was so thrilled that I celebrated for her. And now today it reads that she is relearning life skills, and I am cheering her on as she gains a new perspective on life! Life is so taken for granted and the way we connect with others is too. If you notice sometimes all we need to do is smile to another person, a complete stranger in the store, and it will make a difference. Sometimes just acknowledging another person will give them some kind of lift in their self esteem. One person, one smile or one 'good morning', can change someones day. Knowing that there is a woman fighting for her life and making a new beginning, that has taken a grip on what God has to offer and is making her best effort, makes me see life different. It makes me think of how much I take my life for granted, and all those around me that God has blessed me with. In my prayers now, I ask that His will be done. I thank God for all that He is doing in this woman's life and I thank Him for bringing her into my life and letting me be a part of her prayer life, and of restoring mine.
